Just wondering if any of ye could guide me in the right direction, engine in my Seat (2003, 1.4 petrol, 16v, 5 door saloon) gave up the ghost last week, trying to look for a replacement as the bastard of a thing was just NCT'd and taxed days before the engine went, not really been able to find anything online, are there any dealers/mechanics out there who can source engines? I'm in Kerry if that matters.
    Thanks.

Did you try that scrapyard on the tralee to listowel road (well actually just off that road)
He had a lot of stuff last time i was there.
Be useful if you put up the size and BHP of the engine your after as its likely to be same in a lot of other cars which would help your search.

    What Year is the car?

Thanks for the replies. It's 2003, 1.4 petrol, 16v and a 5 seater saloon. There was around 140,000 miles on the engine, it was off the road for a year due to emission problems but was driving away perfectly for the last year. I have a mechanic who will be able to put in the new engine.
    It's one of these

Are you sure it's worth the cost of an engine replacement?

You should be able to get some of the tax back if the car is scrapped.

It possibly isn't but with all the work done to it, plus it just having passed the NCT, 4 new tyres and the tax, it's a pain to leave it like it is. I think it depends how much the engine will cost and what condition it is in. As for the tax, you need 3 months full tax from what I read, I taxed it for 3 months around 10 days ago.

Is there any chance this car is very similar to the Polo Classic and has the same engine as some Polos?

Here's your chance to fit a 3 litre supercharged engine in there :D

I dont think so. think there are differences in the bellhousing and afaik the polo classic was the 60PS engine.

If your ringing breakers you'll need the engine code. It's a three letter code you'll find on a sticker on the timing cover. If you want to pm me your registration I can get it for you.
