Go to a family member if you can, you'll be ripped apart if the credit union won't give you a loan.

You'll be paying easy over the odds for anything.

If you get a providential loan you 'll be paying back 1500 , at most and anyways first timers will only get 500

CU are the easiest places to get a loan out of in my opinion. Try family and friends or a combination of the two, say maybe 100-200 euros each iff that makes you more comfortable. You will get eaten alive elsewhere if you can't get one from the CU!

Just checked their site and they seem like the type of pay-day-loans places advertised on British TV. A complete rip off.

    Don't go near payday loans.

If you're working ,get a letter from you boss saying the kind of contract you're on and salary and how long you've been there.
Most CU's are reasonable but expect you to have saved with them for a certain period.

    Don't go near provident

Firstly, its 30euro for ever 100euro you get a loan of.
So you its basically 30percent on top of what you borrowed

secondly, the person who gives you the loan is like an independent person who works with provident.
They come out to your house, they assess you, you guys come to an agreement on how you pay them back.
Sounds great and all if you need a quick payment but these guys feckin hound you
and I mean absolutely hound you for the money back, and god forbid you miss a days payment, they constantly knock at your door

thats how they collect by the way, they knock at your door and you hand them the cash.

If they don't get the money back from you, its their commission gone they probably get a 10er for every 100 they give out, so you can see why they hound you, they live off commission.

Their a complete rip off, and I don't think you need some person knocking at your door every 2nd day looking for money.

@Reunoy, given your recent threads, you'd really be best off talking to someone if this is concerning a business venture. €1000 is nothing in terms of business and I'd urge caution if this is seed money or similar. Furthermore, taking a loan for such a small amount is worrying if you don't meet the criteria for even a Credit Union to have it, it means your equity (i.e. Savings) is likely non-existent and your leverage (i.e. How much debt you are taking on versus how much you have 'in the bank') will be huge. Breaks just about every rule in the finance book.

What are you trying to do? You may be able to do it without a loan with some forward thinking :)

No its nothing to do with a business venture, a course that I applied to do in the states over the summer and wasnt going to do it but decided to do it last minute. I may approach a family member.

You want to do a course in the States, and you don't have €1000 to pay the course fee?:confused::confused::confused:

You do understand that the cost of getting there would be about the same in flights alone, plus any Visa's required, living expenses etc could easily equate to triple that. I've worked and lived in the US extensively and it is a costly place to live in many regions.

If you don't have the money for the course fee, you really don't have the money to even consider it.

Can you not do the course online?

You have'nt a hope in hell of getting a loan from a commercial entity. In an case , IMO you have posted in the wrong forum. You should try the Student Finances forum.

If you don't have 1000 to pay for the course, it's unlikely you will be able to get a visa anyway.

This is the Business and Entreprenuer Forum - your post has nothing to do with that and is about personal finance and/or a student loan. Please don't continue posting threads here that have nothing to do with the forum.
