Door Hooks and panel doors. How to make it work ?

Unfortunately I have legacy doors in my house which are made of hollow very thin panels around a wooden perimeter frame. When painted up it looks like an old solid door.

I have tried putting hooks on the doors over a year ago but they are gradually slipping out.

I cant seem to find a spring toggle which is small enough to slip through the holes on the hooks.

Theres nothing for a screw to grab onto. Any suggestions what I can do ? The smallest spring toggle I can find it slightly too large...

I saw a product named ''grip it fixings'' in B&Q advertised for plasterboard but I have no idea if it would work. Plasterboard is thicker than the door panels. If smaller spring toggles exist that would work I think. any ideas ?

I know nothing about screws but I have over the door hooks on my doors. they fit snugly over the door and don't interfere with opening/closing. You can get single ones or 4+ ones.

Unfortunately my doors are of an unusual thickness and fit so tightly that no over door hooks I have obtained will work.

    Would glue be an option?

Alternatively, any chance it would be acceptable or desirable to have hooks on both sides of the door, in which case you could fix on both sides using a nut and an appropriate length bolt going through the door?

Thanks for the grip it fixings idea--hadn't seen those before.
