Summer Internship vs Summer Job?

    Hi all,
Just looking for opinions on this dilemma I have. I have to decide between two different jobs this summer. The first is a summer internship which would be 9-5 however I would have to commute for just over an hour each way every day. This paid internship is directly related to the course that I'm studying in college. The second is a summer contract as a customer service assistant which would also be 9-5 each day but the commute would only be half an hour or so each day. This job isn't really related to my degree.
What would you's do in a situation like this?

Definitely the internship, it will stand to you in the longer term.

    Internship without a doubt.

A future employer in your field won't give a sh** about your irrelevant summer job, whereas having relevant industry experience by the time you've finished college automatically places you ahead of those who also graduate with you without relevant experience.

As for the 1hr commute, call it practice for real life ;)

Internship without a doubt. I know it is frustrating to hear, but experience counts for everything when applying for, then actually doing a job.

Definitely internship, especially if your degree is not highly sought after by graduate recruiters (and even so, I wouldn't take the risk).
