I made the move to VF from eir recently and VF did everything. It worked perfectly I got a text from VF the day the switch happened, I have my eir supplied F2000 router updated to the latest firmware and it just kept running away like nothing ever happened. I did have an old F1000 modem as well which I gave to the courier instead of the F2000;);) VF BB only for €40 per month, certainly better than eir's €59, my only regret is that I didn't do it earlier.

I am fed up with the cost of Eir and it's terrible DSL and want to move to Vodafone for fibre.

Do I have to cancel with Eir myself or do Vodafone take care of that for me?

Don't VF use Eircoms Fibre lines? Pretty sure they do. Actual device should be the same, customer service and cost would be the main difference. Have never dealt with Eircom but VF is a mixed bag. Like anywhere I suppose.

I find the connection much faster with VF 9m/s ping consistently. I also regained my 20 meg that eir "lost" on me when I trialled their eVision service. The F2000 is a much better router than the VF supplied router, gigabit ports, dual band wifi etc.

Here's something for you OP. I left Vodafone to go to Eir because of the constant dropping of the Vodafone line.No problems now, but I get it probably goes by area.

Dumped Eircom in 2014 in favour of Vodafone BB. Never looked back. Even recently i dumped them and switched my phone to VF.

I switched from eircom a good year back.
I have found the vf service top notch I must say.
I found eircom very disjointed to deal with

Have been with Vodafone for years but if you get a line fault be prepared to wait to be connected. Last time I was without a phone line for 7 days whereas my neighbour whos with Eircom was repaired the following day.
As I am hoping fibre FTTH is coming to my exchange shortly as fibre cable is been installed in area I will most likely return to EIR as I have no contract with Vodafone.
