    Hi,

I am a Landlord and my tenants are registered with Irish Water. They are moving out at the end of April and returning to their home abroad.  I do not know if they have been paying bills and want to know what the position is on my end.  If they leave and have not paid any water bills what happens here.

    Hi JD24,

    Thank you for your query.

If you have previously provided your tenant's names when they moved in, or a tenant has registered themselves for the property, then you would not be liable for that period of time. We would not be able to disclose information relating to your tenant's account, for data protection reasons.

When your tenant's move out of the property, we would recommend that they contact us to confirm this and provide a forwarding address so that we can send them their final bill, if they have not done so already.

If there are new tenants moving into the property, you can provide us with their names within 20 working days of their move in. This would need to be processed by calling us on 1890 448 448. Our lines are open from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday and 9am to 5:30pm on Saturdays. Irish Water will then write to your tenant to invite them to register. This will ensure that you are no longer liable for water charges whilst the tenant continues to be the occupant of the property.

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us and we will be more than happy to help.

    Thanks,
    Alex
