When did you realize you're becoming "old"?

In quotations because it's not about age but rather you do things that you would consider old people to do.

For me it's now. The kids outside are playing. It's 8:30 at night and all I can think of "will their parents ever tell them to go to fecking bed. I want my peace".

When according to RTEs 'do you masturbate' survey, I dont fall into what they consider a young adult.

That or when I started bumping into younger relatives, in the pub who I used to baby sit.

When the young one in for work experience thought I was cool. Chatting away, she was asking all sorts of questions. "How old are you" she asks. I tell her. "No way? Really!? You look so young." :(

When i get paid and go do grocery shopping. I used to wait up to be paid so as I could check out my asos shopping basket, mere minutes after the money went into my account.

When I go out and wake up plastered the next day because my poor body can't keep up.

When I wear flat shoes out because my knee/back hurts.

OH you can go and bollocks with that fact. I was happy not knowing 18 years old were born back in 1998.

The Point Break remake made me feel really old. I went to see it, against my own better judgement and felt like standing up in the cinema and screaming at all the teenagers that this man on the screen was not Bodhi, he never would be Bodhi and they need to all go home and download the original at once.

Also, my Dad used to play 50's and 60's music in the 80's and 90's all the time and I would always say something like 'Ah Dad, play something else beside's those golden oldies all the time will ya'. Now I imagine he must be looking down laughing at me as I drive around listening to 80's and 90's music.

The day I realised I had a stick in me shed for the sole purpose of stirrin paint cans.

That, and constantly having a tickly nose from the hairs that keep growin up there, and protuding from me nostrils like a spiders bloody leg.

Shortly after I got married and went to a nearby club one evening for a soccer kickabout When I finished, as I was leaving I said "goodnight lads" and one responded " good night, sir."

Just tonight when I went on facebook. A friend added me to a group of young wans talking about beauty stuff. They're all so nice to each other and concerned with safe spaces and positive vibes only. I felt so old when I I just thought 'Aww isn't that nice now, when I was young it was merciless'

ETA also don't get asked for ID anymore

I have back problems following an accident and Get really bad times, few weeks ago I was going through a really bad patch and when getting out of a chair I thought "a walking stick would be great just now" I had it thought without realising and a shiver went through me like a wind from the artic. I couldn't unthink it and was disgusted with myself, makes me a bit sad. I'm only 43 :(

Haven't had a pain free day in about a decade.

Now most of it is niggles, but you'd know by how I'm a bit stiff taking off that I'm not young anymore. Course one bint in work ALWAYS has to pass comment on it "Have you hurt yourself, you're limping?". Guess what luv, you've known me years and say that at least once a week. I dunno how many more times I have to elucidate "no, I'm just bockety".

The first warning was when the barber started trimming my eyebrows. Talk about shock!

Then came the bushes from my nostrils. First noticed by my daughter who handed me a cheap nostril hair trimmer for Christmas. It promptly grabbed the hairs and used them to pull itself up my nostril till it bled and my eyes watered. I screamed like a girl. I had to rip the nostril hair out of my nose to remove it!

Now they are coming from my ears! I've grown a big bushy beard just so I don't have to stick anything in there!

When niteclubs started doing 90's nights.

When I tell the kids outside to f*ck off and play football outside their own house.

When I try and get my kids to sit down and watch something I liked growing up and they have no interest. I had the same reaction when my parents tried it with me.
