    Hi,
Am in the process of filling in a form for solas and they are looking for a sworn affidavit from former colleagues.
Do I have to get this done thru a solicitor?
If not, can anyone point me in thr right direction for getting one?
Am a bit clueless about this tbh so any input greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

An affidavit has to be sworn and witnessed by a commissioner for oaths or solicitor. It shouldn't be that expensive if you are just swearing before them. It is slightly more expensive if you are paying them to also draft the affidavit.

    1. Find out what information is to be in the affidavit, and why a simple letter will not be accepted.

    2. If a letter or cert is not acceptable, ask if a statutory declaration would be accepted. A Peace Commissioner can take a declaration. It is a criminal offence to make a false declaration.

    3. An affidavit has be sworn before a Commissioner for Oaths or a practising solicitor , Usual fee €10,

    4. Swearing a false affidavit is perjury. Serious matter. Therefore you should take your solicitor's advice re contents of affidavit. Don't swear as facts anything you do not know personally

    5. For 3 and 4 if you are not personally known by the PC or solicitor bring proof of identity
