    Hi Guys,

See the A3 route is quite different from 2014 when I last did the race. Anybody got a Strava profile to help work it out ?

Mapmyride will do fine too ;)

The pdf cue sheet provided, although standard fare and detailed, doesn't cut it compared to modern technology.

Is there an elevation profile for the women's race anywhere? Think it's the same route as the A4's. The cue sheet is useful, but the triangles of doom make more sense to me!

It's a harder route than ever for the A4 & women's races. The last climb is very tough, they sent the A3 race over this climb when I did this race two years ago, and it proved utterly decisive and split the race into several groups. It's a narrow climb with grass up the middle and has a bit of a double-top.

The race has three main climbs; the first is short and steep, the second is long and shallow, and the last is the hardest and will go some way to selecting the winner.

It also looks as if the field will be stacked for this race with all the big hitters turning out so it should be a showpiece event for women's racing.

Must you pre-register for this race to do the A3 race? I tried to do it online but the link is broken.

Badly organised I must say. The A3s went out in the wrong direction and race was stopped and restarted. Lack of marshalls the cause of this.

Did all the A3s go the wrong way?

Why couldn't they start the racing in order like is usually done? Can't blame the poor marshals with so much going on and races going off in different directions.
Tough course. Good roads to race on. It was a good test

A breakaway of 6 went the right way. The chasing group went wrong. Can't really blame them though because there was an arrow pointing left. I turned left too:)

In the A3 in 2013 a few of us went the wrong way after the first loop back into Nenagh. There were multiple arrows on the roundabout and whoever was front picked the wrong one and we all followed. At that point most of us just abandoned.

In 2014 made sure I had a good mental picture of the route. Didn't do it in the end this year but this was the reason was looking for a Strava profile. Unless you know you'll be at the front, It is one race where you need to put in the effort to figure out where the route goes.

Same problems last year in the women's race. Lack of stewards and confusing arrows. Ended up doing lead car to get the second bunch home last year. That was the 2nd year it happened. And now again this year. It's lauded as the greatest one day race in Ireland, yet if this happened at a Tuesday night league race the organiser's would get dog's abuse. Seems to be ok at this event as the Winners praise the event to the nth degree, so every other riders experience gets ignored. Swore I'd never attend again after last year and I didn't this year. Looks like the same old story. My question is, why the complicated circuits? Town is closed for the day. Surely a 15 to 20k loop constantly going through the town would work better.
