Mileage on run flat tyres

My dad has BMW 520d m sport with run flat tyres. He has 25,000 miles on the clock and from looking at the rear tyres there may possibly be another 3k left in them. Would 28,000 miles be considered good mileage out of these tyres?

Yes especially on a rear wheel drive.

Hope there not absolute cheap rubbish with no grip.

A car like that needs decent tyres.

Always depends on driving style but that is good mileage for car it is.

He was thinking about changing them to non run flats. Would you get much of a difference in mileage?

He wont get too much more, again depends on driving style. I got, maybe 5000 more out of a set of non-run flats but its not comparing like for like - more comfort was the main benefit for me.

It depends mostly on type of roads he drives.

On some roads, 8k miles might be plenty for a set of tyres, while on others you might do 40k miles or more.

Like has been said it's grand miliage.

Personally I wouldn't change the tyres to non-runflats because of the extra few kms you might get. Noise, cost and comfort are the main reasons people change and for me personally the extra safety factor with runflats would be enough of a reason to keep them.

Don't forget if you change to standard tyres you'll probably want to get a spare so that's more cost and iirc there's no place in a 5 for one so it'll be loose in the boot which is a bit meh.
