    Hi folks,

Our best friend passed away about a year ago now, he was 14. The house was devastated.
It's only now we are ready to get another dog but don't know were to start looking.
Don't want to support puppy farming. But would like to get a pup rather than an older dog.
Any advice on where to start looking would be much appreciated.

Where are you? Don't think we're allowed mention specific rescues but some have pups surrendered to them.

If you're not set on a specific rare breed rescues is probably your best bet; they will have a large selection in terms of future potential size and offer the fastest route. If you don't find what you want they'll keep you in mind for future puppies as they come in.

Rescues always have pups, if you're not set on a specific breed then you'll have a choice of cutie pies!! I see you're in Dublin, there's plenty of rescues there, big and small, if you're on Facebook have a look at some of them, we're not allowed mention any on here but there's a really big one who do great TV ads and their logo is sort of yellow......;)

I have to agree it is very sad to see all the beautiful dogs in these places
but they are been given a second chance which is brilliant

I have often contemplated helping out at my local rescue but I know in my heart and soul I would want to bring them all home oh weak me :o

Not naming any rescues(!), but the rescue I got my dog from is currently desperate for fosterers as they have over 60 puppies on their hands. It's heartbreaking. I'm pretty sure if you pop into any rescue they'll have loads of puppies (hopefully one of them might suit! :))
