Juvenile track and field league is on there this weekend, and the stadium car park is not going to take everyone. Any good spots for overflow parking near the stadium?

Sorry, not really answering your question here, but can you post up these juvenile fixtures for the entire summer here so we can know in advance when irishtown is unavailable for training and make alternative arrangements?

I've used the GAA club on the main road a few times when going there if there was no parking locally. Prob shouldn't but haven't had an issue.

The car park for the stadium is pretty big and there is a smaller overflow car park outside, but if they are both full them just park in any available space you can find on the street. We're a friendly lot as long as you don't be a parking wanker.

I got there just as a load of football kids were leaving the lower car park :) although some of the parents were not so lucky

It's a nice venue for the meet, the banked grass sides are good for spectators. Great to have another track up and running again

The track is in a disgraceful state. There are already holes in lanes 4 and 5 at the finish line, where the track has ripped up. It has only been open not even 9 months and it's already in rag order! It's grand for kids, and it's grand for training on, but there really shouldn't be senior meets planned for there this summer, yet the GV Ryan and 2 Graded meets are penciled in.

That's what they get for scrimping on the price and it taking almost two years to get finished.

But, they have plenty of parking...

On the parking side of things, I find it hilarious that people just park their cars in the middle of the car park, where cars are supposed to drive up and down. Unbelievably chaotic, and cars that need to use this space are having to manoeuvre carefully and slowly past these stationary objects! Only in Ireland!

My advice to anybody travelling to Irishtown for a meet is only use a car if you have to (bringing kids for example). The DART, number 1, 47, 18, 77A, 15A and 15B buses, and the Red Line LUAS all go either very close, or pretty close to the track.

The 1, 47 and 18 buses stop right beside it, around a 3 minute walk. The DART, and 77A is a 10 minute walk. The 15A, 15B is a 10-12 minute walk once you know the way, which is tricky at first, and the LUAS is a 15 minute walk.
