2 things Id suggest. Check the input/source via the remote control. You need to select the correct cable i.e. HDMI or scart and select accordingly.

The other thing is that you should probably have an option when scanning for channels to select digital, analogue or all. If the Sky box is analogue (it must be very old as I dont recall that type) then you should try scanning "all" channels. But once you have selected the correct source or input you shouldn't really have to scan at all.

    That's just a layman's offering :)

    Ms

Did you get anew Skybox as well or is it still your old Sky box plugged into your new tv? If so is it plugged into the new tv by a hdmi lead or some other way maybe VGA. Being a new tv it is more than likely a hdmi cable and you just need to go to the hdmi source on your tv and you should find your Sky there. Hope this helps.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Its not from HDMI or VGA .Just from a splitter and then an ordinary aerial connection to the telly .Sky box is 30 ft from the new telly Thanks

Its actually the very same .Last one was a Phillips big screen .I just swapped aerials and the delivery man tuned it in but sky did not come on and he was as lost as me .Thanks for the reply

It's possible the new TV can't tune into what I'm assuming is the analogue signal from 1 of the Sky box RF-outs.

There are ways to make it work, if you want to persist with this setup, though I'd say most people would suggest getting a Sky HD box, making the most of the TV's HD capability.

Is the box still feeding 2 TVs? Do you actually have a Sky subscription?

Yes I am paying Sky 84 euro each month .Never had a problem feeding the two tvs. Going to update to Sky Q soon.Sadly to say not in time for Joshua tonight on the new tv .I think your right by saying Panasonic tv not recognizing analogue signal. Thanks again

As I mentioned before when you go into initial set up and scan is it giving you an option to scan for analogue?

Also Id suggest contacting Sky and looking to see if they will give you a free or cheap box. Threatening to cancel (if not under contract) can yield results. You could also consider picking up a good second hand box on the likes of Adverts for maybe 30 or 40 quid.

But you really do need a Sky HD box at least if not a Sky+ HD box to maximise the telly's potential.

Yeah, Panasonic don't seem to bother with analogue tuners anymore.

Maybe you want to just wait for the new install then, although there are options such as an analogue RF-to-baseband AV converter to work with the existing Sky box, or moving it closer to the TV, & taking an AV feed directly from it.

All new panasonic tvs do indeed have an analog tuner but they are a nitemate to tune, id nearly need to be in front of one to remember how to do it I assure you they are there on the A300, C300 and the newer smart models that have the firefox operating system all have analog tuners.

Make sure the sky box is actually switched on. Do a retune selecting analogue and digital. The sky signal will be found and will be saved on the very last program number, eg999. Check that number now before you do anything, it might be there already.

Thanks for all the help guys .I will get a new sky box

I assume you're aware, but just to be sure, slotting in a new box in the same place as the existing, & feeding the TV the same way (from the RF-out), won't make any difference.

hi, any of the new panasonic smart tv's i have seen will only scan for digital signals when you do an initial set up but when this is done you can go back into the setup menu and enable analogue tuning, the tv will then scan for analogue channels,
    you should find it under
    menu>setup>tuning>enable analogue channels>add analogue channels
as far as i can remember.

Does the sky box have a Scart socket? That would probably be the only way to get it to work.

The old Sky box has an rf modulator. The scart socket has nothing to do with it.

The problem is at the receiving end. ie the new TV. On the new LG's you would have to choose Cable (as opposed to Sat/Digital) and tune it in there.

What country is selected at the start of the initialisation of a TV can switch off elements.

This sounds like someone scanning a digital/terrestrial tuner rather than analogue.

I thought all the Sky digital boxes had Scart. Anyway, I have a new Panny cx802. To get analogue tuning you hit the TV button on the top of the remote and in the menu that comes up pick "Analogue" and hit the 'OK' button.

Then hit the Menu button on the remote and from the menu pick 'Setup' and then 'Analogue tuning menu' then 'Auto Setup'
