A gunman took fire at someone in the car park, the shots hit a car parked in the car park and there was a baby in the car. That's basically it. The baby was not injured, neither were other occupants in the car. Could have been so much worse but it wasn't thankfully. There needs to be a serious crackdown on guns in this country.

We have some of the strictest gun laws in the world. Go the Farmers section of boards and you will see farmers who need basic shot guns to protect their animals not being able to get a license for their gun. Our laws cant be anymore restrictive

What more can the Government do on guns? Criminals will always have guns. Criminals aren't buying their guns in Ireland, since our laws are so restrictive. Our murder rate last year was the lowest in decades.

That's true hardly any criminals have a gun and almost none of them carry one around

In Ireland, there's an absolutely massive difference between what's written in the law, what's actully enforced by the police, and what's actually considered a jailable offence by the judiciary. Too many times politicians create new laws in response to problems without ever examining how better to implement the current laws.
What are the chances if they ever catch this guy he has a charge sheet as long as your arm? And should never have been on the streets? Three strikes and you should be off the streets for life.
So there's lots the government can do...

I know all about gun laws, both my father and my brother hold gun licenses. I never mentioned gun laws if you re-read my post.

There's a lot the government can do to people who hold illegal fire arms.

You never mentioned 'illegal' and that's the real problem. Not just here but anywhere in the world really.
