    Hi,
I was wondering what the limits are per single transaction when abroad for an Advantage Gold Credit Card and Visa Debit Card, and what fees would be incurred?
Looking at buying a car over in the UK and seeing what the best approach is
    Thanks!
    Kieran

    Good afternoon,

    Thanks for your post.

There’s no limit with Bank of Ireland on either Visa Debit or Credit Card when making a point of sale purchases, however the retailer may have their own floor limit it may be best to check with them.

Also we would recommend you let credit card services know that you are making this purchase as it may be outside your normal spending pattern. This can be done through the Online Service Desk on Banking 365 or by calling 0818251251.

Outside the Eurozone, a cross boarder handling fee of 2.25% applies to all credit card transactions regardless of whether your credit card account is in credit or not. When you withdraw cash, a cash withdrawal fee of 2.54 euro or 1.5%(whichever is greater) applies unless your credit card account is in credit when the transaction hits the account or has a zero balance after the transaction is completed.

The cross boarder handling charge for your Visa Debit card is as follows:
ATM – 3.5% of the transaction value with a minimum of 3.17 euro to a maximum of 11.43 euro per transaction.
POS – 2% of the transaction value up to a Maximum of 11.43 per transaction.

    I hope this helps,

    Thanks

    Janette
