HI, Please can anyone help ?

I want to be able to access the new Hub3 settings etc. externally?

Has anyone had any success doing this?

I have asked VM helpdesk for what I need to do, settings etc. and all they tell me is that they don't support this and I need to ring their paid techie at €1.10 a minute In spite of the hub having a nominated port setting specifically set aside to be set up for external access .

    Many thanks,

    P

I wouldn't. No faith that VMI would keep on top of any exploits in the services it runs on.

    Thanks Ed E.

I had no problems with my last setup but I'm pretty annoyed that there doesn't seem to be any info re this issue since Virgin Media took over from UPC. Even U tube doesn't have info on how to get the remote access with the new hub and seemingly, the English and Irish version differ according to VM helpdesk if I can believe all that I'm being told!

Buy a router that lets you do what you want, turn the HUB to bridge mode and connect it.

    Thanks Cuddleworth.

Latest hub doesn't have that Bridge setting but it has a modem setting . Do I need to do anything else with settings to enable it to work?

    Many thanks

Enable modem mode, plug it into the WAN port on the router. Make sure your router gets a IP that doesn't start with 10 on the WAN interface(eg:10.x.x.x). If it does, contact them and ask for a public IPV4 address.
