The game to determine once and for all, who is the best team supported by Nuri Sahin.
If the last game in the cup for Liverpool was a massive game, this game is surely hugher seeing as their playing a top top side.

    The facts:

Borussia Dortmund 2nd in Bundesliga, Liverpool in dead place in the English Premiership
UEFA Europa League Quarter-final, Game 1
    Tomorrow, 20:05
    Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Nordrhein-Westfalen

Really tough game for Liverpool to get anything out of but if we can get Firmino on the pitch and Sakho is in control of himself again and Sturridge stops annoying Turtyturd and Flanaghan gets on the pitch and Dortmund play crap and Liverpool play better, there's a chance of getting a possible decent result.

As per turtyturd's suggestion, this match is live on tele, it can also be heard on radio and there at places on the interweb where it can be viewed.

Word from reliable sources says Derek will be playing as the striker, so that's a headline in itself for the rags in the morning and if Liverpool don't score.

Klopp is poised to harness the work-rate and physical strength of Divock Origi rather than Sturridge. (Paul Joyce) #LFC

Roberto Firmino has been passed fit which is good news, with Emre Can facing a two match lay off in the premier league he is surely nailed on to start most likely with Henderson in a somewhat deep lying central midfield.

    Mignolet
    Clyne--Lovren-Sakho--Moreno
    Can--Hendo
    --Lallana---Firmino--Coutinho
    Origi

Dortmund could have Gundogan fit, obviously Mkhitaryan, Reus, Aubameyang
are the main concerns for Liverpool but Dortmunds shut out rate is no better than Liverpools is really so you'd have to fancy goals at both ends.

Klopp not afraid to drop star players. Origi is more suited to this game than Sturridge. Good decision if true.

Liverpool are a good cup team. They'll need to park the bus and hit quick on the counter. If they prevent Dortmund scoring early, they can frustrate them (Dortmund can be frustrated quite easily in comparison to other top top teams due to a lack of a real clinical out and out striker) but Liverpool may still be edged out in this scenario. If Dortmund score early in either tie, the floodgates could open.

Yeah, away from home especially, pressing from the front is going to be vital.

Sturridge for 20 minutes at the end is a nice option to have too.

Aubameyang has scored 36 goals in 41 games. 10 in 12 in the Europa. He started 39 of those games as a CF. Seems pretty clinical to me.

Also, Dortmund have failed to score in only 4 games this season, wouldn't call them easy to frustrate either.

Is that a joke? If not, you obvs don't know anything about Dortmund or their main man Aubameyang, but then again 36 goals is not very clinical

Seriously? Since the winter break they've conceded 7 goals in 16 games in all competitions and kept 10 clean sheets. That includes 1 goal conceded in 4 games against Porto and Spurs in the EL.

Yes, why would a tv station want to show a game with a massive potential audience. They'd then have to deal with the hassle of selling advertisements for high fees.

I'm hoping we play our socks off tonight, I mean we did beat them 4-0 in a pre-season match once.

    That counts, right?

Great album title. Lead single would be 'Injuries' naturally.

It'll be interesting to see how the Dortmund players react to Klopp's presence- for most of them he's the single biggest influence on their careers.

3-1 home win, to leave us with a slight bit of hope in the return leg

Correct. And scoring more goals than they do, means we win the game.

Take away barca and Dortmund have looked as good as anything in the champions league to me in the last few months.

Can't see Liverpool getting out of this one with less than a two goal deficit, expecting goals, and lots of em

Can't see anything other than a comfortable Dortmund win.

I expect we could win this game. Can see goals that's for sure.
Won't be easy for Dortmund IMO /

Which of Michael Owen, Robbie Savage or Owen Hargreaves with Fletch on commentary will make my ears bleed?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,719 ✭✭✭JaMarcusHustle

I am not at all comfortable with Liverpool having such a remarkably likeable manager.

Will be weird hearing You'll Never Walk Alone and trying to remember its not being sung for us.

For the stick that Owen gets, it's Savage who is an utter utter moron and makes the other two listenable imo. I cannot Savage, he really is a clown.

Yeah, Owen is bland and boring and Mr Obvious, but when it comes to strikers and his opinions on what he would have done in that scenario, i believe him because he walked the walk.

    Savage offers nothing but irritation.

    "You hang up"

    "No, you hang up"

    "Okay, I love you"

    "I love you more"

"Okay Bye..............well YOU didn't hang up either :-)"

That had the making of being an amazing rendition of '' You'll Never Walk Alone'' with both fans singing , but it was not. Got better when guy stopped singing that's for sure.

Yeah I watched both legs vs Spurs and Dortmund really were on another level. The way they pressed Spurs was something else and their counter attacking was clinical. We need Sakho and Lovern to have a mammoth game tonight to stand any chance. Right now I'm just hoping to get out of there with the tie still intact for the second leg
