Sizing John will be delighted that he is not looking at Douvan's arse for a change. 3/1 seems a no brainer.

Apples Jade might turn over the Cheltenham form with soft ground conditions to suit. it really revolves around these two with Jers Girl having recently underlined the form.

Couldn't be having Cue Card over Djakadam and theres no Cossack around this time.

Marasonnien looks a nice e/w bet in the Foxhunters. It beat Salsify before winning the red mills open last month.

Word going round for Hobbs mare in the last.

    1.40 Sizing John
Agree with lads and really hope he wins

2.15 Cant have I.G. with heavy rain reported and of the 3 irish i think Apples Jade will come out on top but im going to take a chance on Romain De Senam @ 18/1who no doubt would have won the Fred Winter if it had been over these extra few yards. He also gave the winner 3lbs that day and reopposes on levels today. Nicholls also won the race last year with a 16/1 shot so hopefully he can repeat.

4.40 Will have a few bob on Viconte Du Noyer

Just got back from that preview evening on Melling Road. Very wet and very windy in Aintree tonight.

MTOY 5/2 w/o Annie is a huge price imo

finishing 2nd in a champion hurdle after two years off is an amazing performance, and is likely to come on for the run, while others are at the end of a long season.

Although he ran fantastic in the champion would you not be concerned that an extra half mile on soft ground would be too much for him though? He seems to be more about speed than stamina.

Id be concerned enough about the distance and the likelihood of the bounce to stay well clear.

I'm feeling very worried about todays racing and suspect there could be quite a few upsets and will be keeping stakes to a minimum and having small e/w bets and maybe a little muggy e/w lucky 15 or lucky 31 for an interest.

    1.40
Looks an open race and although i'm a big Sizing John fan i think 11/4 is a bit short as i think the better the ground the better his jumping is,i think the race is a lot more open than the betting suggests and Volnay De Thaix at 20/1 could surprise a few and get involved at the business end, had a nice debut over fences before getting stuck in the mud on heavy in January and then went over hurdles at Cheltenham when not enjoying carrying such a big weight. He's the highest rated of these over hurdles and is the least exposed chaser and i wouldn't be surprised if Henderson's been eyeing this race for a while.

    2.15
Ivanovic Gorbatov is the best horse in the race of that i have little doubt but Joey got his target win with him at the Festival and 4 year old's can lose their form pretty quickly and again i'm going for a big outsider e/w.
Khezerabad ran a decent race in the Adonis on his first start over hurdles when he played the role of towing the main group into the race behind the front running Azzuri,i think he may have scuppered his won chances that day with how he was ridden and will improve for it on his second hurdles start and he's one of the few juveniles that didn't go to the festival which should also help.

    2.50
Looks a 3 horse race on paper but i think they've each got questions to answer and Don Poli in particular i can't have, just don't think he's a top notch 3 miler, Djakadam had a tough race and Cue Card had a nasty fall.
The outsider e/w in this one is Taquin De Seuil, looked a really good Novice chaser winning the Jlt with the like of Uxizandre and Felix younger in behind, has had his issues since but came back with a nice win in a handicap chase prior to a staying on run in the Ryanair where he didn't have the toe to go with them early and made a few errors and i think this is his trip nowadays and wouldn't be surprised to see him sneak a place.

    3.25
Annie should be winning this and i find it hard to oppose, particularly as i think Nichols canyons had a real tough season and he can't keep pulling out good runs and My Tent or yours will find it tough after such a good run after a long lay off and now upped in trip, dare i say it The New One could be the horse to take advantage if Annie has any slip ups.

    4.05
Again i'm thinking there could be an upset and On the fringe will find it tough, Pacha Du Polder is all the rage after his run at the Festival after the apparent poor ride he got off Pendleton but i'd be in the opposte camp and think she gave him a peach of a ride albeit showing her lack of strength in a finish in the last furlong or 2. If i was forced to have a bet i might go for Major Malarkey, he front ran for a good bit at Cheltenham and if getting the lead here could be hard to peg back.

    4.40
Minella present will win a handicap chase soon but i won't back until close to the time, if the ground's not a complete bog i'll be going in all guns blazing but if it is i might sit it out, think he's a plot all over and know Neil himself really fancied him for the Grand Annual and had kept him specifically for it but got balloted out.

    5.15
Mares bumpers are far from an intriguing betting medium for me but one that could out run her odds is Shattered love, through her beating of Freeway space she's a better animal than Avellino who finished ahead of Copper Kay who's a few points shorter in the betting here and Avellino could arguably been a bit closer that day with a better ride.So Shattered love e/w could run a nice race.

I half agree with you :pac::D
Diego du charmil won the Fred Winter on his debut.
Yes, Romain De Senam would have won in a few more strides, but the winner is open to any amount of improvement. I don't think 3lbs will be enough to turn the form around.
    +1 on the rest.

Great days racing but nothing really jumping out at me but the bets I have done are:

    1:40 L'ami Serge
Backed him in the JLT where his jumping was very novicey and that's a slight turn off but I think he's a talented horse and I'll give him another chance.

    2:15 Footpad
Ground is now soft on the hurdle course and I think he can turn the form with IG.

    2:50 Cue Card
If he'd stood up in the Gold Cup, I'm not saying he would have won but I think himself and Don Cossack actually would have pulled a long way clear of Djakadam because DC was idling when he hit the front and with CC there I reckon they would have put 10 lengths on Djakadam.

    3:25 Nichols Canyon
I think Annie Power will win and I think she's capable of winning quite comfortably. I would back NC w/o the fav but I'm not really a fan of that in jumps racing, especially at a meeting like Aintree. Would love to see Annie run to like 175 though and see what Ruby has to say about her taking on Faugheen next year then ha!

    4:05 Pacha du Polder
Yeah sure ye know yereselves. Haha.

    4:40 Bright New Dawn ew
Wearing headgear and he didn't at Cheltenham. Can't imagine they'd bring him over if they thought he had no chance. Alright price. Good enough for me.

    5:15 Augusta Kate NAP
She's the same price here as she went off for the Champion Bumper where she ran a fine race. Back against her own sex on her ideal ground. The Greatrex yoke is way too short, Copper Kay prefers better ground and I don't know if Shattered Love would have the toe to win this.

    Some good write-ups here.

Sizing John wins the opener. When beaten, it's nearly always been behind Douvan, facing nothing of that calibre today. Worried how much the Arkle might have taken out of him, but most of his rivals face same question.

Footpad. Today's conditions will suit better than Cheltenham, think favourite will get done and most likely by Ruby.

Don Poli. Am a CC fan, but just think today might be the day for DP. Has c&d form which is a plus and, like many, feel he wasn't given the best chance possible to win the Gold Cup, still improving and a bit underrated I think.
