Anyone any experience of this would it be a cheap way of getting breeding heifers, what would the quality be like, best breed to buy etc. ?

Dont know if it would be a cheap way of getting heifers but if you could get Limousin heifers out of british friesian cows it would be good. Most dairy farmers seem to have Holstein cows now though.
Some suckler farmers have an arrangement where they pick the Bulls the dairy farmer put on his cows and they buy the heifers.
Dairy farmers are inclined to use very easy calving Angus and Hereford Bulls (for obvious reasons) which often give heifers with poor calving ability.
It sounds as though a lot of beef Bulls are going to be put on Dairy cows this year which will result in more potential replacements for suckler herds maybe.
