Hi, I'm doing up plans for a self build 80m2 single storey house extension, getting a lot of mixed advice on how to construct the walls. I like the idea of a double leaf insulated cavity, rendered S&C external and internal. What would be the real cons with this way as opposed to 'cavity block with internal battens and 100mm warm board or any other suitable method. All advice welcomed but of course within a realistic tight budget.

I am about to start myself.
Leaning towards 100mm outer leaf, 100mm full fill xtratherm insulation and 100mm inner leaf. externally dashed to match existing house and internally plastered with a sand/cement render and then plasterboard on top.

Like yourself i'm open to opinions, but the dry lining is not the best way forward long term.

Cavity block are for sheds. Build a cavity wall or timber frame.

Nobody mentioned building with cavity blocks. Both posters above mentioned 100mm external block, 100mm insulation cavity and the 100mm block inner leaf

I think they did mention cavity blocks to be fair.
