Did anyone get the latest update with the 1.90 firmware? Any noticeable changes?

What's the point of the fingerprint scanner if you still have to enter the pin to unlock, or am I missing something?
Surely you should be able to use fingerprint on its own without PIN?

Yeah, just the fingerprint. I think you might need to use a pin after a reboot, but that's it.

Can you let me know what you have set under security>screen lock then?

    This is how mine looks

it is actually a pain to start up ... it takes forever, hold the power button down for at least 5 seconds I would say, then maybe 30 seconds before you have to enter a pattern, then it kinda shuts down again before powering up again

    is everyone elses the same?

why does it boot up twice?

Mine goes splash screen > boot animation > small vibration > lockscreen. No reboot of any kind.

Mine shows the HTC startup logo again after I enter the PIN all right. I think it's only if it's encrypted

I flashed it from XDA. Not much difference at all. I think Three ireland and HTC international are still on 1.80.401.1.

How can I tell if my phone is unlocked? I got it from Meteor, there is no branding.

Ye if u have the device encrypted, it boots up and then asks u to enter the password to decrypt, then once u press enter, it decrypts it and loads the phone proper.

It's the price u pay for encryption.

Not that I know of. You don't know anyone who's on a different network?

Call Meteor and ask them to check? They should have it on record if an unlock has ever been done.

Rule of thumb usually though, is that if it's bought from a carrier store like Meteor, Three etc, then it's locked.

Not the case. My last 3 phones purchased from Vodafone Ireland, 3 Ireland and 3 UK were all network unlocked. I usually buy phones around release day, though.

Not trying to call you a liar or anything but I work for a carrier store and the phones we sell have always been locked to our network. So that's why I said what I said. Happy days if it worked out for you though!

Looking to get another USB C cable as the micro USB ones are no use any more. I don't need quick charge, so what's the best way to use existing power adapters?
Do I just plug a USB C cable into the old charger, or are there converters that convert micro to usb-c. ( I don't care about losing quick charge, as the power adapter doesnt have that any way)

You can plug usb c cable into an old plug, or use adapters on micro usb like these below:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-Adapter-Converts-Resistor-ChromeBook/dp/B01AHKYIRS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1470915351&sr=8-3&keywords=anker+usb+to+usb+c

I find the adapters handy, because if i'm somewhere where i might need a charge, it's easier to find a micro usb lying around so i just need to have an adapter on me.

Also be very careful when buying usb c cables. Do not go for cheap brands, make sure you buy from a reputable company. There's been lots of coverage of the damage cheap cables can do.

@Basil3 - agreed, but you need to have UK address and bank account to buy it online, I didn't see any other option in the Countries drop down list. Was planning to order via parcel motel but doesn't seem possible, any other ways to get it , tomorrow is last day, thanks

You mean from HTC UK? Just use your Parcel Motel address for both delivery and billing, works fine.

There's also an option to purchase extended liability through Parcel Motel for something like €7.50. Thought it was worth it, due to the value of the phone.

yes, HTC UK, did you already purchased from UK site and all went well from order till delivery? I was about to order when saw this - "To complete your secure online order, please enter your billing information below. The billing information should be exactly as it appears on your credit card statement. "

Credit card has Irish address but you suggesting to use PM address, does it work that way. I just want to abs sure as recently returned LG G5 defective phone bought online :(, lost around 50E in the whole process, not anyone's fault, just bad luck, thanks

Yes, works perfect with PM address as billing. To get the best exchange rate, use a revolut card or similar
