Paid by two diffferent employers

    Hi all,

Unsure if there is a specific section for these types of requests, if so feel free to move.

I just had a small query in relation to my taxation (or future) taxation this month. I'm leaving my current role this Friday and begin a new job next Monday. I will be owed a weeks wages from current employers, which will be paid on 28th April, but I will also be paid circa 3 weeks within my new employers on the 26th of April.

Is there anyway for me to ensure I don't get crippled with emergency tax from the new role? My current employers have said they will issue my P45 straight away afterwards, but not sure if they mean after I leave or after my final pay (which will be 28th of April and therefore after my new employers will have paid me and I was always under the impression that without my P45 I would be emergency taxed?)

Unfortunately with busy period I don't have time to ring the tax office today or tomorrow, and not sure how much help they could be as haven't found them overly helpful (I guess they don't have time to answer every trivial query, which is fair enough), so if there was anybody here who could shed some light on the situation I would be very grateful.

You won't be "crippled" for the first 4 weeks of an emergency basis.

If you want it sorted quickly, then you should ring Revenue. If not, leave it for your new employer to sort out, but be prepared to wait

You would be on a Week One basis for the first 4 weeks of emergency tax so you won't get crippled.

If you have a Tax Credit Cert. that can also be used by your new employers instead of the P45 until you get it.

had a similar situation in dec/jan, just give them a ring and they're very helpful. If you think theres any discrepancy you can submit a return.
