adding hydrated lime to slurry tank

    The answer may be obvious but would anyone add a few bags of hydrated lime to the slurry tank before agitating? Would it benefit the slurry? Lower the ph !

    I wouldn't know a whole pile about it but would it not destroy the nitrogen in it.

    I think you'd be making your own calcium ammonium Nitrate or CAN? Used to use hydrated lime on cubicle beds over slats, didn't notice any problems.

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    I presume you mean dehydrated lime?

    If you are going to add at any significant quantity you would burn a growing crop...

    It would raise the ph and I think this turns the ammonia nitrogen into a salt with the N turned into a gas that would evaproate. I think it is used in the US to take the smell out of the slurry. Below is a research paper on it see if you can understand it
