Fridge Freezer Recommendation

    Hi,

Will hopefully be moving in to a new house in the summer and will have to get a new 50/50 or 60/40 fridge freezer.

Finding it difficult to get the straight dope on who makes good ones these days.
From the past day of reading online it would appear that formerly good manufacturers have gone off a cliff quality wise.

I would have considered Neff and Smeg to be high end manufacturers but they seem to get rubbished these days.

Reliability, availability of spares, good repair engineers network and ease of maintenance would be key factors. Don't need it sending romantic texts at 4am to tell me about the milk.

    So would anyone have recommendations?

    Cheers!
    R.

P.S. I checked throughout boards and similar threads are quite old.

If you look hard enough, every brand will have someone to rubbish it. How many posts did you find rubbishing Neff and Smeg?

I dropped out of reading after about a dozen posts about those brands. It is true to say that once one person slates a brand more and more people tend to jump on those threads and follow suit.

So would you have a recommendation as per the thread?

Bosch or Siemens for me anyway.

Avoid cheap brands like the plague.

We bought a Fisher Paykel fridge freezer 4 years ago. So far so good. Just have had to replace the water filter a few times in that period.

It's a 60 / 40 fridge freezer. There is no space compromise because of the ice making and water, which was the feature that sold it for me. I am also not into the BIG American style side by side fridge freezers.

At the time Harvey Norman were the most competitively priced for kitchen appliances.

+1 to Bosch though mine is only 5 years old but never had any problems.

    Thanks guys,
Appreciate the replies. Was quite taken with one of the Siemens units yesterday, the missus was opting for a Samsung one instead. Both up around €800-900.

The only arguments you have left are:

    Energy rating

    Warranty (and extended warranty)

    Capacity

    Features

Don't fight 'the power' though.. :)
