Getting water to stock

    I have fenced off my waterways in 3 parcels of land for GLAS. Was just wondering what is the best way to supply water to them? Is it expensive to pipe it in from the road?

    Only part time beef so keeping cost down while keeping the cattle happy is priority!

    Well you know that you don't have to be immediately worrying about it as the deadline was changed from 31March to 31July.

    Is there water in your watercourse all year? You could use a pasture pump to pump from it. I think the last option is to have to draw water to them with a tanker.

    You'll have to find out who is over your local water scheme and see how much it would cost you to get a connection as it varies.

    Is it an option to dig in a drain from the water course under the fence ina way that they can still drink without poaching in the river?

    I'm in the same situation, have water accross road so could bring it over but this would involve either digging a trench or directional drilling. Has anyone got a new water connection recently and have an idea of cost?

    If you have a shed on that side could you use a pump and header tank and then pipe it to the fields?

    You know that's what I thought but we have small drains off the main one and they don't have to be fenced! Doesn't seen to make sense! I didn't realise they deadline had been changed?

    I don't know , thats what I'm wondering too . I read something about it but it mightn't be for glas

    I was thinking of buying a little tank with drinkers on the back, I see one on donedeal (sorry can't add link) but I'd like to get a rough price for piping it in. I'd prefer a permanent job
