    Hi,

My parents are doing up their sitting room and are looking to put in a new fireplace and stove. The Ild 6 insert stove has been recommended to them. I have never heard of this brand and Im worried that the stove shop might be pushing these particular stoves. My parents have waited a long time to do this job and I want them to get the best for their money. Has anyone heard of Ild? Is it a good stove with a good heat output? The stove shop said it was a 6k stove thats made in Norway.

Other stoves mentioned were the Henley Porto 400 , Boru 400i and the ACR Tenbury Any advice or recommendations are welcome.

I'M no stove expert but last year we got a Henley Achill stove installed, can't fault it, think it's 6.6kw too, throws out great heat

I don't know about that brand.

when ever I get stoves (or recommend them to people) I like brands that are time tested and you can get the parts years down the line

a neighbour bought a stove 7-8 years ago . before Christmas a couple of internal consumable parts needed replacing and he couldn't get them because 'they ' don't make them any more. he tried everywhere he could think of but had to get a new stove in the end

my grandmother has a Stanley stove that is easily 20 years old. she replaced loads of parts over the years . all she had to do was go to the local Stanley centre and order the parts an they would be there in a few days.

same with a friends Stanley 8 cooker . great wore out. went to local centre and they had them in stock .

just remember that you hope to keep this stove for years and years.
I would go into the shop and try to order a grate for an older model that they make and see if you can get it

Thanks for the replies everyone. In the end they went for the Ild 6 stove and they are delighted with it. The heat from it would put you out of the room and it uses only a small amount of fuel. Last night they only burned 3 sods of turf and one block of wood. Compared to a bag of turf in an open fire!! Only problem is I want one for my own house now!!

I've never heard of them either but if they came from Norway you can be pretty sure their top quality.
