Is it just me or are websites a lot lower on content these days?

The BBC's is stripped back and the international version is awful

RTE doesn't tend to have much by the way of news content

Indo is just full of clickbait stories and the Times is behind a shagging paywall

I read the Guardian and Indy (UK) too which can be ok.

Facebook is just dreadful, I don't know what happened, I blame it for killing the internet.

    Any good sites I'm missing???

    Reddit --->

A sub Reddit for everything!! Tons of content. Some hate the format but with so much stuff, I got over it.

Less popular types of forums would still have loads of content due to its user base. Can't beat it in my opinion.

I was on Reddit once it was like extreme boards, like going full loser.

If you ever think the internet is boring, then you're absolutely doing it wrong. Play the Hitler game on Wikipedia, teach yourself a new language on Duolingo. Learn a new skill on YouTube. Explore sites you wouldn't normally. You mention some websites are boring, which is a microcosm of the internet as a whole.

Once literally everyone started using the internet it became a very noisy, low-content-filled hellhole of clickbait celeb articles and listicles, peppered with inspirational memes featuring Minions that your Aunty Mary posts to her Facebook timeline on a daily basis.

You have to actually dig to find the worthwhile parts now and pretty much avoid social media completely because it is singularly the most awful thing invented in the past few years.

I preferred the internet when it was scary to common folk and us nerds ruled over it with an iron fist through our 33.6k modems.

Just played hitler. Random article landed on kobyiniki in greater Poland. So Poland - Germany - hitler. Good game.

I've often done a variation of it with celebrities. How can I get from kanye to Donald trump? Six degrees of Separation type of thing.

Go talk to that rogue Microsoft AI borg bot on Twitter! She'll virtually rearrange your face if you call her boring!

She accidentally assimilated Twitter trolls and became an insane drugged up nazi

The trad media is dead or fire walled on the internet so read the other good stuff. RT, counterpunch, al jazzera, breitbart, the nation, and many more from left or right.

Good time to get more than one source of info.

How could the Internet be boring?

Music, Films, Docus, Porn, Art, Buy something, Sell something, Learn something... it's a never ending collection of everything.

There's even a 24/7 live cam from a chapel in Vegas where you can watch people getting married by Elvis!

I mean come on. What more do you want like?

That's a very good point you make, we've so many news source available to us today. You can expose yourself to every view point across the board and that can only be a positive thing imo.

It's great to challenge your ideas and take in every side of an argument.

If you think that the internet, with its almost infinite amount of content, is boring, then you really are looking at the wrong sites.

It is the new version of Encyclopaedia Brittanica.

Everything can be found out there. So wonderful, amazing, the possibilities are endless.

And movies and music now too.

The main news sites are just for breaking news with the odd exception. Then you've long form websites with 3,000 words of pretentious crap!

Find Lifehacker and MentalFloss interesting, usually a few interesting articles on it.

Try stumbleupon if you are looking for a buzz, life on the edge!

    Some tips:
Longform - the best longform reads online.
Metafilter - a kind of curated version of reddit.

You might also explore the dark net over Tor if you want to feel the "old" net. And remember why it's nice to have a gentrified net :D

You need a long holiday dude. You are correct though, all of the above has gone to sh!t. Speaking of BBC though, the new horizon is out tonight called... the mystery of dark energy, so they do a good job with that stuff.

Most of the online news from RTE is some lazy feck copying and pasting other peoples tweets.

A 10 year could do that.

The internet is never "boring!", you just lack the imagination to search for something that's interesting to look at!

I don't know about the content but visually Reddit should have steam coming off it it's that big a pile of ****e.

If you're bored go and read all of waitbutwhy.

If you use Reddit Enhancement Suite or any number of Apps (I use Reddit is Fun), then Reddit becomes so much easier to use.
