Ticking coming from boot

This car is parked in my basement and last night there was a noise like a ticking bomb coming from the boot.

As far as I can see the car is off the road, at least it's rarely if ever driven, so it's not like the owner would be taking things in and out of it frequently. Also, this happened once before a few months ago, and like today it had stopped when I checked again the next day.

Anyway, it may or may not have anything to do with 'Motors' but it has me very curious as to what the hell it can be. Any ideas?

    Sounds like a failing relay.

I recognise that car, it belongs to a fella called Pat Mustard. I'd stay well away from it if I was you:rolleyes:

There's a Spanish midget with castanetas locked in the boot

Most likely as a result of battery going flat from lack of use.

Most likley a relay chattering (energising/de-energising) possibly due to low voltage/battery knackered or a dodgy connection somewhere. Had it before on a 3 series, the battery was constantly draining due to a badly installed aftermarket alarm, sometimes causing the relays to chatter if it was parked up for a few days.

There are fuses & relays located in the boot of a 5 series:
