Oil or gas in 2016

Hi all, looking for some advice from people in the know. We recently bought a 3 bed semi, with a very old boiler, easily 25 years or more, but with a new burner.

It's inside the house quite noisy, and slow to heat the house so all things considered we are thinking of modernising.

I know from reading here that people recommend gas if a connection is available. Is this still the case given the fall in oil prices? I presume yes as it is cleaner more efficient etc, and costs of upgrading the oil boiler are similar to changing to gas?

Or on the other hand, is there any argument for replacing with a modern oil boiler?

    Thanks for your help!

No argument. Nat gas all the way. Even if like for like, modern gas boilers can modulate their output down and are much more intelligent.
