I raise this because, in my eyes, a tremendous achievement for a small club, tucked away in a small town, in the west of Ireland.

Jimmy Sweeney boxing out of Balinacarrow boxing club, competing in the BKB promotion in England.

I believe he won the bout via KO in the second round, to capture the promotions title.
It is classed as a world title, but from what I understand, the fighters under its banner compromise mainly/only, of boxers from the four nations.

Perhaps at some point they will bring in international competitors to challenge for that title, but none-the-less, a remarkable achievement in a tough and challenging sport - and the use of a fantastic style to rise to each occasion.

This was not the title bout itself - I think this was for a more localized title some time ago:

But a good demonstration of the skills and style of this boxer.
Perhaps some of the best movement, speed and level headedness.... well, I normally watch mma, so he certainly shines in comparison to that.

But, not one mention of this in national media, which is a damn shame.

To be clear - this sport is entirely regulated and sanctioned by the British boxing council.
The aim, is to bring BKB to the mainstream.

With fighters with the capability, skills and style of Jimmy at the fore, they certainly shouldn't have a problem capturing the attention of the mainstream audience.

Sorry - that was not the video I meant to post - but damn...

I would take that ring girl to pound-town for, several hours..... at a minimum.

    Anyways.

    LOL

Good luck to the lad but boxing itself barely breaks the mainstream now and it has hundreds of years of history behind it.

Is BKB not in a small circle with no ropes or anything? I watched one event and absolutely hated it.

    Wow.

    Where's the love?

This guy held 4 national gloved titles, before making a foray into BKB.

    His skills are evident.

Boxing is boxing, and the way pro boxing is going at the moment, something like BKB could well be the catalyst to revive an interest in the art.

And yes, BKB used to be promoted in barns and the ring was made of bails of hay, but like i said, there's a push to have it go mainstream, so now they're legit promoted events in rings, and it's fully sanctioned.
in fact, BBC news did a piece on it recently enough.

    Boxing is boxing

It really isn't. Boxing encompasses a lot more skills than trying to knock an opponent out. Movement, feinting, precision, timing, cutting off the ring, finding space etc.

BKB takes away these elements and it's not fun to watch in my opinion.

lol - did you watch that guy box??

He clearly excels in all of them areas.

I'm not saying his opponents do, I mean, he clearly looks a class ahead of them.

    But the dude has skills.
    His movement is sublime.

Not to be a pedant, but this is not Bare Knuckle Boxing. Their hands are wrapped. It is boxing however - just not Queensberry Rules. That guy clearly has pretty decent hands, but the talent pool is pretty shallow. I know there is some following for BKB/non-gloved boxing, but it's really a fringe sport.

Isn't the BKB supposed to stand for Big Knockout Boxing?

Either way the dude in the video doesn't excel st anything

    lol - are you serious?

He was an outstanding amateur, 4 national titles.

Alright, comparing him to top pros.... pfff, I mean - even then, his movement and speed is undeniable.

No. BKB - Bare Knuckle Boxing

The commentary in the vids makes them 10x more enjoyable to watch.
