I have vodafone internet on my mobile phone. When I visit my moms place they do not have broadband. Is there some way I can make my phone a wifi hot spot so that I can use a tablet or computer ?

Yes, its called tethering or portable hotspot.

Google "[Your Phone] Portable Hotspot" and you'll find instructions.

Bear in mind the fact that if its not part of your plan you may be charged per MB for tethering as out of bundle charges so its worth checking with Vodafone first.
