Three decades of gear mashing have taken a toll. Anyone have experience with this? Did you have surgery or just reduce the time in the saddle for the rest of your life?

That term was used to describe my knees at one point. Then I was told they don't use the term any more. Then I did lots of stretching and foam rolling and whatever it was went away. Best thing I ever did was get an MRI. After years struggling with deteriorating knee health the MRI nailed the problem and how to fix it. If you haven't had one, you should ask your doctor about getting one done.

I was diagnosed this when I started back cycling under my own specific conditions.
A Physio sympathetic to cycling helped me recover.

Had the MRI. All cartilage behind the patella is gone. So will be seeing an ortho surgeon next month.

My circumstances sound significantly different to yours, I hope you have a successful recovery.
