A useful tool when buying UK import

Recently Ive been doing a lot of looking at 2008 on estates and have encountered loads that have been clocked. This morning I found a tool that can help identify some of the UK low mileage wonders :) It links back to the UK MOT register and can tell you mileage and fail points when MOT'd.

    https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

Take for example this Passat ST08AVY:

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/08-vw-passat-2-0-tdi/11849131

On initial looks, it doesn't look too bad. The mileage is low for the year and the price even when you include the VRT is quiet competitive. However, when you enter it into the above site, it shows that the car in question, hasn't seen 108,000 miles in quiet a few years. In fact it had 230,119 miles  when MOT'd last June.

Anyway, I'm sure this isn't the only example out there. However for general quick enquiry before getting the full monty report from some of the other reporting sites, it sure is handy.

Thanks, I'd began reading that thread but presumed it was about just one particular car.
