Not only great to see it but great to see so few no's. It's going to be a record setter that's for sure.

Great news for us fans too. A far easier trek than Vegas.

Do you think we'll start to see a large number of east coast events now with New York in play or not all that much different?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,961 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

I'd say tix will be mad prices but main cards starting at 12 instead of 3 will make a HUGE difference to watching live! McGregor will definitely want to be on it as well.

I'm not sure about the cards changing times too much. Boxing in NY is usually a late one for us here. If they move it to an earlier start it might not suit the west coast for tv ratings

It'll be very hard to get tickets I'd imagine? NYC be great for a fight weekend would love to go.

The big fights will still be in Vegas. MSG is very expensive to run and the casino lobby in Vegas will demand all the big fights. Although I'm sure the UFC will try and run a big show for the first event in New York.

I'll fight McGregor in Central Park for a box of chicken nuggets

    666th post as well

Would the UFC have invested so much time, effort and finances into this just to run FN cards a few times each year? I doubt it. There are people online from other promotions thanking the UFC so it must have been pretty significant the work and money put in.
Plus from UFC200 events will be held in a new arena in Vegas which isn't connected (physically) to a casino. I think that will see quite a dramatic drop in $s because the crowds are not hearded past slots, tables, retail shops, food places, etc when just trying to get to the fights

A few weeks/month ago when the reality kicked in that Trump actually has a chance of being elected president I give up trying to make sense of anything that Murica does anymore

I'm not sure that will happen tbh. They've always ran east coast events. Florida, Boston, New Jersey, and Pittsburgh were all recently. I can't see NY suddenly changing the time of events.

The fight cards are on pretty early in Vegas, and late on the east. I think they just decided on an middle america average to stick to.

Would actually consider going over for a McG fight now. Hate Vegas. Way more managble trip plus plenty couches to crash on. Sweet

Have you seen MSG ticket prices? No way will NY fans pay top dollar for a crap card. UFC will need to bring their A-game to it.

First one will be huge in MSG but going forward they wont be only using just MSG though, they’ll hold cards upstate and they’ll definitely be doing them in Brooklyn.

Can see them doing one really big card a year in MSG and also spreading maybe 2 other level cards around other parts of NY.

Agreed. They'll have smaller shows out in Long Island's Nassau Colosseum [one of WWE's old NY stomping grounds] or probably even the Hammerstein Ballroom [which has housed ECW and ROH Wrestling events before so a UFC event won't be out of the realm of possibility.] Maybe do like the old wrestling days and have Summer events at Yankee or Shea Stadium.

Basically there's no shortage of places they can hold an event if they don't want to always go to MSG.

I stopped listening to that O'Donnell chap as soon as he said,

    "the vice president of MMA"...

    :pac:

If you're going to protest against something, surely you should actually know what you're protesting against.

The very definition of a Joe Duffy caller. "I didn't see it Joe but I hate it Joe".

Or Catherine Noone. No I haven't watched it but I read a very well written article by someone I respect

The entire assembly was like the most surreal thing you've ever watched if you had even the tiniest modicum of mma knowledge. These people were so ill-informed on the topic that it was like they'd landed from a different planet that day to debate the bill. My personal favourite was Rivera who appeared to be a character lifted straight out of a Rocky Balboa movie.

Knicks sell out every night and they suck.

NYC has a huge affluent population, the UFC could put out 2 random lads from the bar across the street in the cage as headliners and sell out MSG at $500 a ticket.

The issue is we can all instantly spot the fact that they have no clue, as we'd we fairly educated on MMA. But its probably he same for every topic that comes across the elecratoral decision makers. Nuclear energy, human rights, new technology, etc etc. They are probably equally clueless to it all, but it's only evident when you know a bit about it yoursef
