Time for governments to educate against religions ?

Is it time for responsible governments to coordinate and promote the rejection of religions of all types ?

Having no rational role to play in the modern world, where education has superseded superstitions, religions are an impediment to integration and peace in a world of more closely involved societies. This could be done without impinging on liberties to practice religions, or victimising those who do so. But nevertheless, time to call a spade a spade, and, in the manner of the dangers of smoking, alcohol, or obesity, to educate people against it, and encourage people to chose a life without it.

The expression of unity by European and other governments today in the face of religious violence, have the ring of knee jerk, hollow, trite words. To really do something, and while with no short term payoff, yet surely leading to a better world in the longer term, should they be facing up to this legacy issue from a more ignorant past, and actively work together towards a world without religious beliefs ? Enlightened and educated Europe should lead this initiative.

Might be a plan, but trying to get a few billion in the world to give up their beliefs might be a bit of a tall order.

And even if you succeed, mankind will just kill each other over something else, it's in their nature.
