Not sure if this is in the right place so if not can Mods move please.

Tank emptied and was told the concrete wall was wrecked and the tank needs replacing. We've no idea where to start never had a tank before and didn't even know it needed emptying regularly :-/

What sort of money are we talking? Is it a big job? Is there a particular type of tank we should be considering?

    Thanks

They must mean the baffel wall which partly separates the solids from liquids can't imagine how it would get wrecked is it an old tank?
Most tanks in the 50s - late 80s were block built then sand & cement plastered inside if this was done poorly the render and mortar joints are possibly breaking down.
It'd be a good idea to get it inspected by an engineer while it's still empty. Also if you have to empty it regularly eg more than once every 10 years your percolation area isn't up to standard either.
Cost of repair would be entirely site specific any where from 5k upwards

Thanks yes its from around the 60s. He pointed to the side wall of the tank and said its not good. Don't know when it was last emptied we've been here 5yrs and it was the first time we've had it done, we've never had an issue with it.

Site specific? Do you mean plot size, distance from house ect?

if the tank if damaged it is never going to be cost effective to fix as apposed to replace with a more modern system
