New tyres in Cork?

I hope its OK to bump this thread. I'm trying to buy 4 new tyres for my new (to me) car and I'm getting a serious run around. I'm pretty sure its because I'm a woman. I need 185/55/15 tyres and would prefer Goodyear Efficientgrips or Continental ContipremiumContact.
I was hoping to replace them for around 70-75 per corner. Am I seriously better off asking my dad/brother/friend to do the ringing around for me? The thought of it infuriates me but I really don't want to be ripped off. I rang two tyre centres in Cork today and was quoted 80 per corner for Nankangs! On Saturday a guy told me he was "very busy" and couldn't be listening to me "talking about tyres" when the 75 per corner Maxtek (?) tyres would do. Could anyone recommend a place in Cork, otherwise? TIA

    Moved out to own thread.

I doubt all of these places would mess with you because you're female but hey anything's possible I suppose.
I find them more approachable if I actually show up and have my mind made up. If they don't have the brand/size I want I just walk.
    Try R&R Tyres in Ballincollig.

Or buy online and get some fastfit place to balance and fit them for 15 a corner.

Hopefully not the case. They probably can't be bothered ordering in tyres specially.
I know nothing about Cork, but if you are going to Dublin anytime you'll get what you want at a good price from Discount Tyres in Blanchardstown. Just call them in advance and they'll let you know when they have been delivered and ready for fitting.

Yeah exactly, I came in here with the intention to point you to either Banks or Forgehill. They are the guys to deal with in Cork.

Anyway, what the others did wasn't because you're a woman - it's an infuriating, common thing with tyre places down there. Most of them did the same with me - kept trying to push whatever rubbish they had on the floor on me, regardless of what I asked.

Yes, I've had the same experience with most tyre shops in Cork - they stock only off-brand junk at stupid prices and aren't interested in selling anything else.

I haven't bought tyres from Banks but have had good experience with them (tracking, puncture repair, etc.) and they do stock good brands. Forge Hill Tyres also seemed good and helpful.

I would also recommend AJ's Tyres on the Boreenmanna Road - he can order from a decent selection of good tyres (decent pricing too) and have them in next day.

I don't know why people waste money on buying tyres in tyre shops?

Eire-tyres.com - 205/55x15 Falken Ziex with rim protection 72 euro per tyre.

I asked around cork and I got cheapest for 85 euro and that's some chinese rubbish. Something normal non chinese is like 100 euro. That's 27 euro more than from eire tyres. Eire tyres will deliver (from germany) to any of their fitting centres for free. So the whole set would cost 324 euro including fitting. And it's Falken with rim protection.

    Just sayin...

I got 205/55R16 Michelins and Bridgestones for €85 fitted. Just needed to let the shop know a day before, so they could get them.

And in case there is a problem nobody will push the blame to the installed/tyre...

205/55x16 Kumho Ecsta are 61 euro. Fuel efficiency C, Rain B.

Falken Ziex with rim protection, same dimensions as yours (rain A) are 63 euro.

    Pirelli 64 euro.

    Bridgestone 67 euro.

    Michelin 82 euro cheapest.

How much is fitting of one tyre (balancing as well of course) and disposal of the old one? 10 euro?

I think you still could have saved at least 30-50 euro. That's one full tank of petrol.

I usually buy tyres on Oponeo or Eiretyres but I had just bought a new (to me) car which was fitted with rubbish tyres which inspired no confidence in the wet conditions. I wanted a quick solution which I eventually got in Banks' Tyres, who's pricing is very competitive with the internet options. I paid a fraction more per tyre for a quick fit and friendly service. I'll be a repeat customer there tbh.

It's much more convenient for one + there will be a charge for a tire place to fit your own tires so that €27 you saved initially won't be so much at the end of the day.

Many tire places will only fit tires purchased from themselves too.

They will deliver to a shop chosen by you (they are called "fitting partners"). You go online, choose the tires, click few times, pay and then you just wait a week. Then you drive to that shop and those tires are waiting for you there.

Falken Ziex for 72 euro (with rim protection!) or chinese rubbish for 85 euro? Or Fulda for 100 euro per tyre (no rim protection)?

Fitting costs 10 euro per tyre. 4x72 plus 40 for fitting is 328 euro. Driving my car to a tyre shop and choosing Fulda for 100 euro a piece I am paying 400 euro (I don't know if the fitting is in included). Simple maths. I think fhe first option is mathematically better. Obviously.
