Electric shower. Temperature changing by itself

My shower is changing temp while running. The water starts cold as normal then works up to the desired temp. Then it becomes roasting hot before back to really cold. We live in a hard water area but we've the machine that you put the salt into to combat it. We've the shower in only 2 years....

Any idea what's up? Could it just be a blocked shower head and if so how do you clear the Crap out?

There are a few links on boards.ie on this problem but I would start with the easy things first.... if you havn't already done so, with a running shower just keep turning the temperature control towards the cold position and see if the flowrate increases, at the fully cold position it should flow around 7 to 9 LPM, you need a mimimum of around 3.3 to 3.5 LPM (depending on shower power) to avoid excessive temperatures. If the flowrate doesnt increase, remove the head from the shower hose and check the flowrates again. If it doesnt increase substantially, dis-assemble the shower head and clean out any limescale if present, if none present isolate the electrical power and the cold water supply and remove the inlet filter and clean it. If this doesnt work, you either have low mains pressure (if a "mains" driven shower) or just possibly but unlikely the shower pump is faulty if header tank supplied or the heating elements are blocked with limescale. Try those things for a start.
