Expat Tax Refund?

    Hi,
I transfer to my company's US office in June on a 3 year expat visa. I'll be paying Irish taxes in that period through a tax equalisation process. A colleague mentioned to me that when he did an expat to the US with a previous company, he was able to claim his Irish tax back at the end of every year. Is this correct?
I'm Irish, and will retain my house here during that period.

    Thanks!

He may have had a different type of arrangement as the tax eqaulisation arrangement should ensure you do not suffer any tax burden by being posted abroad.

Isn't the refund meant to go to the employer for these equalisation programs? They regross your pay and tax figures to ensure that you are no worse off pay wise

Adrian, that's correct, my question is can I claim my tax back?

Gerry, from what I've heard some employers request that when you receive the refund you recompense them but as this is a private affair between you and revenue they can't enforce it.
This won't be an issue for me, I just want to know if I am entitled to a refund or not?
    Thanks!
