Hopefully RTE buy it and show it on TV at some stage. Otherwise I can't see too many people paying €20.50 to download it.

It's listed as €27.99 for me.

The photos are great on the linked page - loads of tech detail. Really curious about the software they're reviewing

I bought the HD download and is well worth it fantastic crew. The landing back at Dublin was on RWY16 the wind was 220/30G40 Fiona did a good job.

Good example of a not unusual day in DUB then.

Various software looks to be on show from the stills. In flight ops prior to dispatch we tend to use iPads which have all our company manuals on them. Eg: Mel, fcoms, fctm, OPS manuals etc. For a west coast flight we can sometimes be weight limited so the crew will be checking altitude capabilities given the proximity to the ocean and checking this to the filed level per the flight plan. There is also a company performance package which will give you take off data which can be useful to check before you head out to the aircraft to avoid any surprises. Once in the cockpit we have an electronic flight bag which currently consists of a tough book again with all the manuals plus the performance software so we can work out take off speeds. The tablet is a Microsoft surface device loaded up with the same flightman efb software plus the LIDO charts. The tablets are being rolled out across the fleet but most of the a330s have them (if not all by now) since their C checks. You enter the route and can pull up every chart you could ever want.

The comment about the A330 and ETOPS did Aer Lingus certify just their own A330 for ETOPS or does that qualify all A330 for everybody. Not familiar with the steps involved in ETOPS certification

I bought the download and would rate it as pretty good but not great. I felt that at times the crew were "performing" a bit for the camera and also the camera angles are quite limited and generally focused tightly within the cockpit. On the approach to DUB in strong winds, other than seeing the pilot's manipulation of the sidestick it was hard to form an appreciation of the forces that she was dealing with. Good features were the captain's walkaround at DUB, which was more comprehensive and better-described than I've seen in some other programmes, and also the earlier stages of the flight to SFO when they were in the climb and then in contact with Shanwick and Iceland. The departure from SFO was well-covered too. It's the only Aer Lingus video done by JustPlanes so far, so I imagine that if it does well there may be more.

    A320 multi-trip around Europe perhaps? :)

Thinking of downloading it, just wondering is it worth it? Love Aer Lingus and the fact we finally get a cockpit video is very hard to resist!

On the same page, worth the 28?

You would get a DVD box set of a series for much less then that. 28 sounds crazy expensive. I'd be interested in seeing it but not at that price. I understand that it's a niche type of market but still.

It is very expensive, but not very often do you get to 'sit in the cockpit' for two TA legs with the flag carrier either :)

Unless you're an Aer Lingus pilot ;):D

Just curious, for those who've bought it, is there a subtitle option on the dvd?

    225mins, it's in the description. It's not the full 1080mins, don't worry.

this looks cool but reading comments it may not be the best

That's entirely a matter of personal taste and your area of interest. You could peruse Justplanes' channel on youtube to get an idea of what's in some of the programmes.

The DVD is quite good. The crew are very nice and chatty. The departure from DW is good, the landing in SFO is also quite interesting with a late switch from ILS to visual. Flight back then is good but landing is very interesting, Fiona the FO lands it in 40 knot crosswind and it slams against the threshold very hard! All quite cool, worth 28€ though? I don't think so, but it's a nice DVD all the same.

    No pun intended....

It's on the JustPlanes description of the video, one of the very first pictures, so it's not like it's a surprise.

Which bit? the landing at DUB or the spoilers being used?

Find somewhere else to buy it, ARD only have a standard delivery method (courier) and as you see it's bloody expensive and discouragingly so. Yes I want it to arrives in mint condition but come on.

I've ordered the same model EI-ASJ) (delivery colours) from ARD and they're posting it to my Parcel Motel address in NI. Total cost is €136.030.

I got the earlier green-top EI-ASI from them for something around the same price. In fairness I've bought a few models from ARD and always found them very good to work with and good communications. Maybe give them another call or email?

The one on order is 1:200. The 747s in the photo are 1:400

    I have the green-top EI-ASI in 1:200 also.

lets see you land an A330 on runway 16 at Dublin. This is a limiting runway for the A330 with just over 2000m landing dist avail. Going for the "greaser" is not an option and putting in on the deck is the only show in town in these type of conditions.
