Reasonable Car Insurance?

    Hi,

I am currently looking for car insurance on a 08 Audi A4, basic model with no extras or mods.

I'm a 29 year old female and I'm being quoted 3,500 euro. I was away for just over two years so I've lost my no claims but I've held a full license for 10 years and had a policy in my own name for 6 years, I've never had an accident or a claim so how can they justify charging me that amount just for insurance?

I'm not trying to be smart but that's completely unreasonable to expect. I've just started a new job and need the car for the commute, I've rent to pay etc. No wonder so many people are emigrating or driving without insurance. I'm not condoning it as it's completely idiotic but that's well over a months salary for most people.

I looked at swappin my car with a family member (vw golf 07) but that's also 3,000 +. Surely there's an insurance company that takes into account your age and no prior claims even without NCB.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Who did you have the no claims with? Try them and tell them you was away for 2 years and would they honor them, that's what I did and axa honored them because they had it on record.

I am 30yr old female, my insurance last yr was €400ish and during the yr I changed cars to 1.9, my renewal quotes all shot up to €900/1000, but then Bank of Ireland Car insurance quoted me €500. They might be worth a try!

Were you driving while you were out of the country. Could that insurance company provide with a NCB cent to present to current insurers?

Yeah i would try the previous insurance company and see if they can help.

Also try brokers , they can plead on your behalf.
Getting quotes online wont help you

Whered you get that quote? Just a quick check on chill.ie says 1.8k for fully comp on a 9 grand 2008 a4, 29 and 0 years no claims. Youd often get that down if your partner has insurance, if you also have a home insurance policy with the same crowd etc.
