    Hello,

Anybody know if its legit for a plumber who didn't install a new central heating system to sign a cert 1 given that all the details given are that of the original rgi installer?

Absolutely not legit. Cert 1 is when gas is being installed and there is no meter. What work did the plumber who signed the cert do?

    Thanks for your reply.

He didn't do any of the work. He filled out the cert, but put down the details of not himself but the original rgi plumber/ installer.

Well he can't do that for sure. Why was he filling out the cert if he did no work?

That's what I found strange. Tried to get cert from the installer/ plumber but he just kept making appointments to call out but never showed up. Today this new plumber shows up and fills out the cert for him.

Would it not be safe to go ahead and get connected to the gas network? Have been waiting weeks to get this cert and finally get connected.

Something very strange going on. Was your original installer Definatley Rgi registered?

Yes definitely. He was on the RGI list.

    It's mind boggling.

Personally I'd ring the original installer and ask him for a cert. If he makes another excuse then tell him you'll report him to RGII for not certifying his work.
Check there now and see if the original installer is still registered.

Thanks i'll do that. I checked and he is registered. However, I panicked when I checked 2 weeks ago he was removed but he's back now.

I'll ring him on Friday. Maybe Saturday he could be hung over from Paddys day :)

If he's any good he'll bring you the cert Friday. He's obviously a complete chancer if he's letting somebody else certify his work. It might be worth your while to get a reputable installer to have a look at this job to see if it's up to scratch.

That would be a good idea. I'm nervous to be honest to proceed with connection. I don't see why he couldn't sign his own name. Why get another plumber to sign your name for you. Something is off alright.
