Cast Ewes

    Just thinking of buying a few cast Ewes for grass finish only...never bought them before what should I look out for.. purchase price etc?
    Btw what weights do the factories pay you for?

    Mouths and feet, if you get too picky you'll end up paying too much, they're fairly cheap atm sold a few this week for 40

    sold a bundle of culls in the mart this week @ €145 a head, would have blown 15 to 20 a head in the factory

    anything that looked like it would live for a few hours was making 60 uplands

    factories usually pay to 40 kgs but if pushed will go higher

    op ..long term and buy light fresh sheep might be worth a punt but don't be banking of the profit

    Sent one to the factory last week - got 115.
    39kg @ 2.90

    145 is a great price...
