    Hi All,

Just bought a new bike and following all the advice I have read I need to order some spare tubes. I have no idea what I need though? The wheels and tires are below.

    System wheelset Shimano WH-R501, 15C
Tires Continental Grand Sport Race 25-622, foldable

    Can anyone advise please.

    Thanks.

For some reason buying tubes is a lot more complicated than it needs to be, until you get to know the systems at least.

It's the numbers on your tyres that give you the indication, 25-622.
Starting with 622, that's the standard road tyre diameter BUT it's mostly given as '700c'. It means the same thing just a different way of measuring it. Most people recognize both. If you see 'road tyre tube' or something similar, that usually means it'll suit yours but looking for 700c is usually easiest.
The 25 refers to the width of your tyre. Road bike tyres are usually 23c or 25c (nevermind the 'c' bit, it isn't important). As tubes are flexible they usually cover a range of tyre sizes e.g. 18-23 or 20-25 or 25-28, etc. So you just need to find a 700c tube inside a range that covers 25, a good option for you would be marked as '700x20c - 700x25c'.

Another thing that'll come up is that tubes can come with 2 different types of valves (the metal bit where you attach the pump), called 'Presta' and 'Schrader'. As yours will be for a roadbike/thin wheel they'll be Presta. A Schrader valve usually only comes on larger tubes. This is always indicated on the box anyway.
Finally to confuse you a bit more the valves can be different lengths as well, 28mm, 32mm, 42mm or 60mm for example. The longer ones are to suit specialised wheels that are "deeper". With a normal road wheel like yours I'd say it's best to go for shortish valve lengths, any length up to 42mm should be grand.

These >> http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/ie/en/continental-race-28-tube/rp-prod18908 or any tube that fits a 25mm tyre. Tubes may be classed as 18-25 which means they will fit any tyre from 18mm to 25mm, just make sure that your tyres size (25mm) is included.
