Electric shower after tank emptied

Hey, when the electric shower was switched on last night it made a weird noise and no water came out. We checked the tank in the attic and it was empty so after we waited for the tank to fill again we tried the shower again. The water is coming out when the shower is switched on but the noise it made while dried is still happening so I am worried the motor is burned or something else. Anyone any ideas? The water is also spluttering from time to time. The shower was ran altogether for about a minute while the tank was empty. Is this long enough to burn the motor?

You have an air lock in the pipe feeding the shower. What you can try first.Remove shower hose, let hose lie in the tray, turn temp to cold or lowest setting, run shower for 30 seconds max, repeat a few times,it might solve it,it depends how much air is in the pipe and how far the shower is away from the tank

I think that Agusta means remove the shower head not the hose.

It's working perfectly now after doing this. Thanks a million!

The tank running dry is not a good thing & you should keep an eye on this. It can be a sign of a mains water leak either on your side of the meter or on Irish waters side. Irish water will repair any leaks on their side within a few days once they know about it. It could be nothing but still keep an eye on it for a few days
