Android box ethernet connection dropping

I have an android tv box like this one http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057256553 and Virgin 240mb BB. (technicolor tc7200 modem)

The android box works fine on wifi, but when connected via cable it connects but the connection drops every few seconds and comes back after a second or two. I.e. The Ethernet symbol disappears and comes back.

I have tried two different brand new cables, cat5e and cat6.

    Any ideas?

I can't tell if it's dropping when plugged into my laptop, is there a way to see if it drops on Windows? That would tell me if it's the modem I suppose...

TC7200 has issues with auto negotiation. If android has the option set it to 100MB full duplex and it should work.

Sorry can't see it myself, where in the settings might I find that?

And if my android box doesn't have that?
