You should be able to find the routes on strava from last year with a google search. This year they're a bit different though. Stage one is a finishing lap shorter and stage two is a lap longer, making it a very tough stage and the weather forecast could make this a really tough day in the saddle.

The changes to the race are intriguing, and look designed to make the last stage harder to control and more exciting. The race has been sewn up and too easily defended on the last day in the last two editions.

    I'll be there...

Yes, stage 2 will be intriguing and likely to see all kinds of scenarios. What is certain is that the weather will be atrocious at times- it will take a fair bit of resilience this year. I did Ras Mayo lately and was never as wet/cold; expecting the same in Gorey, with twice the number of riders

The National Junior road team were to depart this weekend to ride nations cup events, but afaik this is not happening now due to the unfortunate and very sad events in Brussells.Guess where they will be riding now?Gorey here we come.Should liven it up a bit,if its true.

Had the pleasure of trying to hold the wheel of Robert O Leary in the Des on the flat. The lad, for a featherweight is relentless.Should go well

Jaysus. The national junior team completely shut down last year's race after taking time on the first stage. Good chance it will be more of the same.

Hopefully not as bad as two years ago, once the time trial had kicked off then the rains started around the middle of the day and it was freezing, and then into the race around Gorey with wet slippy roads, tight corners and no brakes!

I was never entirely comfortable with extreme Islamic fundamentalism but this really is the last straw.

Are the updated stage routes anywhere to be found on Strava or other outlet, I've found some of last years but with the changes, will things be much different? This is my first time riding it and will be going pretty much solo with the wife as DS......

    And there it is...

A pity for the lads that they don't get to ride in Belgium. And a pity for the rest of us we have to ride against them. A tough weekend looms.

I was looking at them on strava earlier, sat stage is more or less the same but on strava "Gorey 3 day stage 1 " shows the old route which crossed the N11 at Camolin but for the last couple of years this isn't the case we will be following the N11 and R772 into Gorey and then back out to Craanford hill which you will have already gone up once on the way down.
Stage 2 is the same as the strava map but 5 laps instead of the usual 4 and again I believe this year the finish is moved from Gorey out to Craanford .
Stage 3 is the same as on strava

So are you saying that Stages 1 and 2 both now finish on thed top of Cranford?

The schedule I have just looked at says finish at normal place on Enniscorthy Road for stage 2?If its Cranford it will have to be either 4.5 or 5.5 laps?

Jaysus, Stage 1, full of drama.... Cracked carbon and bones!!

A big crash only 10k into the race....(riders not even warmed up!!)

A very tough day for the riders with very strong headwinds all day.
A two man breakaway stayed to the line with the bunch baring down on them.

Shame there isn't betting on Gorey. My horse Robert O Leary won

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,131 ✭✭✭Bambaata

    Anyone see the results anywhere?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,158 ✭✭✭Tenzor07

Robert O'Leary of nrpt in Yellow, Shane O'neill of aquablue finished 2nd...

usually results are printed out and stuck on the door of the Wexford Arms pub! :D

    Edit: results from Stage 1:

Great weekend had. Am banjaxed today but in a good way as fortunately i avoided all crashes all weekend. Got caught out on stage 1 with guys letting wheels go so lost needless time there. Was in the main break all day 2 so gained there and rode in at back of sprint yesterday just barely avoiding the last crash! Hope all who went down are ok! Learned loads so hopefully i wont be as naive next time! Did waaaay too many efforts on day 1 and 2 but enjoyed it. Was shagged yesterday but did have a few moments off the front again to at least put some effort into it.

Similar story to Bambaata. Lost 45 secs (35 secs plus the bonus) on day one a bit needlessly, got across to the break on day two (and attacked it ultimately without success), was in the break of the day yesterday, caught just before Blessington (was actually very briefly second on virtual GC), crashed in the last km but got same time as the bunch and got first unplaced vet in the end (well they gave it to someone else and then to me once they twigged I was of sufficient age). Other than that nothing happened!

Thanks to Alice, all at the Road Club and all the crew who made it another successful, mental and thrilling weekend. Major kudos to Sean Bracken who really showed us all how it's done. I'm only a child in comparison.
