    hello folks,

the first flue is a balanced flue from a grant multipass boiler which passes through a cavity block wall. There is 2 inches of aeroboard in the cavity. What will I use to surround this flue in the wall?

The second flue is a twin walled external insulated flue which passes through the same wall, coming from a range. What's used to surround the flue in the wall?

    Many thanks.

    Sand & cement.
Grant flue takes cold air in via outer pipe, so its always cold.

Twin wall insulated flue is insulated ( I think )

    building regs part J
    3.8.2 Shielding: Flue pipes should:
    (a) be at least 25 mm from any combustible
    material, or
    (b) where passing through a wall, floor or roof,
be separated from any combustible material
by a non-combustible sleeve enclosing an
air space of at least 25 mm around the flue
    pipe, or
    (c) where passing through a compartment wall
or a compartment floor, be cased with noncombustible
material with at least half the
fire resistance needed for the wall or floor
(see Technical Guidance Document B - Fire
    Safety).
For a double-walled flue pipe, the 25 mm
distance may be measured from the outside of
    the inner pipe.

    thanks lads.

does that mean Dathi that nothing is needed for the twin walled flue as there is already 1 inch insulated all round? Thanks a lot
