Thinking of Hyundai Tucson On PCP

    Hi
I'm completely clueless when it comes to buying a new car.
Basically we have two cars at home an 08 mondeo and a 08 Corsa.

We want to sell/trade in both cars and get a Hyundai Tucson On PCP.

Was looking at the Executive one. I could probably put about 9k down as deposit if I got rid of both cars and put some myself towards the deposit.

Would I be better off selling both cars private or seeing how much dealer will offer?
Is there bargaining on the list price of the new car on pcp?

Also does anyone have opinions on the hyundai Tucson?

    Cheers

I can't answer your questions. The Tuscon looks great and get decent reviews.

But PCP, is an expensive and restrictive way to buy a car. Albeit an easy way to buy a car.

Make sure you are happy to be tied in before you sign up.

Personally I am too miserable to buy and new car, the depreciation god no. And with finance you end up paying 1000's extra on top of the price.

Just bought one, looked at pcp and couldn't justify the overall cost so went down the hp route instead, slightly more a month but at least you own the car at the end, without a 13k lump to find

Suited us as we wouldn't be changing regularly, had the current 08 Mondeo for four years

If you think you can sell the two cars yourself, by all means do it.

Go into the dealer as a straight deal buyer and when you've agreed a price on the car then say, now I want to finance it with PCP.

Did you try a few dealers? Also did u trade in or sell privately?

My ideal scenario would be lump down 30% deposit then pay about €330 per month over 36 months then go again with a 2019 car after 3 years.

Traded in, first dealer offered 5.5k wasn't too impressed so went elsewhere and got 6.5k

I'm also putting 8.5k in so makes more sense for me to own it outright after 4

Did you only get 6.5k for the Mondeo AND the Corsa? That was mean by the dealer I would have thought you were looking at close to 9 or 10 in private sales for them assuming they were in good condition

How much would you expect to get as a cash purchase discount from a new Tucson executive model (the one that is 3k more than the base model) with no trade in?

    Thanks!

I reckon about 1.5 - 2k if the wind is behind you, biggest issue is they are selling v well so it's not like they need an incentive!

Thanks for the reply. I asked for a 2k discount on the ix35 in 2014 from a few dealers and all said yes straight away. Any idea what is a fair price for a 2014 ix35 against a new Tucson? The first one I asked said it would be 11,000 euro to trade up from a base model ix25 (2014 ix35 with 41,500 km) to a base model Tucson which doesn't seem like a great deal. So am considering putting it on done deal as it's only a 17,500 trade in value they are offering.

Not much IMHO, maybe €1000. Tucson sells like hot buns anyway (3600 sold in Jan and Feb this year), they have very little incentive to push more sales...

If you're not afraid of selling yourself, then go for it. It is a relatively new and expensive car - which discourages private sale unfortunately.
However it is still on warranty, so serious buyers will not be scared too much. Just have all the paperwork in order.

How much did you pay for it? It is currently worth around 70% of the (original list price-€3000).

    Thanks Grogi.

I paid 24,500 for it, list price was 26,500.
