Looking at a vehicle and seller said he thinks turbo has gone... its the d4d 2 litre toyota engine 2002 year... says its still driving ok..so my question is whats the turbo do if its driving ok, and if turbo is gone what impact on driving would it gave? And is it a tricky and or expensive job? Thanks

Those cars are a bit of a minefield with dmf, injectors and turbo issues being common. I'd hold out for the rare one that's been mammied from day one and impeccable. I think they're a great car, but there are so many bad ones left at this stage.
Unless you're doing a lot of miles, a 2.0 petrol model would be infinitely less risky and much nicer to drive.

Listen to this man, he speaks sense. Tis easier to spend a few extra bob each week on petrol than to to be getting 40 mpg and regularly hit with repair bills which far outweigh the fuel savings.

They aren't that heavy on juice either.
